Ward of dementia with exercise

Regular exercise in midlife helps ward off dementia in old age, research suggests.

"moderately vigorous" physical activity, meaning more strenuous than walking, in middle age was linked to better mental function later.

But the study found that increasing the amount of exercise beyond moderate provided no extra memory protecting benefits.

These findings, published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, come from a long-term study of 3,050 twins in Finland.  Comparisons were made where one twin was more physically active than the other.

It should be said that currently there is no cure for dementia.  But research during the last decade has started to provide information on preventing the condition.

I certainly hope it works for me.  yay!!
